Saturday October 18th 2008 saw Ruth and I visiting a Taste of Soul in Crenshaw, Los Angeles, which was well attended by a happy, mixed ethnicity crowd, all enjoying the sunshine, the music, and the food. On The Wave stage, we were delighted to see Corbin Bleu, whose movie High School Musical 3 is about to launch. He is a delightful, extremely talented young man, who gave a tremendous performance of six songs, with amazing choreography and a great backing of dancers and musicians. I was able to give him some of my tea, which he gladly accepted, and his father, David Reivers, who is also in the movie, was so hospitable. You can read about Corbin at www.corbinbleu.com. I know he is someone we are going to be enjoying for a long time to come. Mayor Villaraigosa was in fine form too, making the opening remarks of the show, and being gracious enough to spend time for photo opportunities with his many well wishers. It was also a pleasure to meet the lovely actress Penelope Ann Miller, who plays Corbin’s Mom in the upcoming movie. France has the honour of releasing the movie two days before the US as they always issue new movies on Wednesdays. The US will have to wait until 24th October to see this fun musical. Don’t miss it.
